In general, it is apparent that there are more girls than boys in either secondary or higher education across all the four areas, with two exceptions.

In secondary education, Europe has by far the highest percentages of boy and girl students – 95% and 100%, respectively – which are 9 and 5 times that of their peers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The situations in Latin America and East Asia are comparable – between 40% and 50% for both genders. While the former has slightly more girls than boys, the reverse is true for the latter.

Turning to higher education, although Europe still takes the leading position, the percentages among the four regions are quite close to each other. Whereas Europe beats Sub-Saharan Africa by threefold (45% to 15%) in terms of female percentage, there are always a fractionally larger proportion of students, regardless of their gender, in Latin America than in East Asia.

My view is that this choice is according to different people’s needs and will. For instance, if a doctor spends 3 years in practicing medicine, his experience will be more than his peers who stay in college after they graduate. Also, in our society, a doctor’s reputation is based on his skills and doctors, practical skills are more important. However, it may be better to pursue further education for a philosopher until he gets a doctor degree. Meanwhile, different people have different wills to do different things, which means they can do the personal choice for themselves.

Overall, I think the choice is quite personal and people will make the best decision based on their conditions.

By comparison, other resources of learning such as Internet and TV sometimes are likely to make the students distracted due to a host of irrelevant information, which will undermine their learning efficiency and make students learn less.

It is also true that students are likely to learn more from other resources. Internet and TV are two media where there are a wealth of knowledge and information ranging from science and humanity. They are also the easily accessible platforms for the students who are in the remote places where the learning resources can hardly challenge the dominant role played by teachers.

To sum up, teachers are still the primary resource from which students gain knowledge, although the influence of other learning resources cannot be underestimated.

First, violent films and television are mental poisons for the audience It is because they contains numerous of erotic, corrupt and provoking episode, with long exposure to which, viewers might become aggressive and eccentric. In addition, violence contents set negative role models for young viewers, especially the youth. Activities like fighting, shooting or killing done by movie stars send teenagers a wrong message that violence is an effective or even essential solution to all troubles. Therefore, these youngsters with immature minds begin to admire violence and disrespect social rules, which leads to the increasing of the juvenile delinquents. According to the analysis above, it is clear that the measure of limiting violent information on media should be encouraged, for the reason that it can directly cut off the access to those illegal and evil behaviors and thoughts, thus keeping people from imitating them.

Advocates claim that the practice of controlling the amount of violence in mass media is a brazen violation of the people's basic right to know the truth of the world. For example, some films contain some violence, but they reflect the things happened around us. Rather than producing negative effects on audience, to some extent, these films educate them. Furthermore, violence in films or on television programs cultivates people's senses of crisis and responsibility, which makes ordinary people and police work better for public security. Consequently, it is irresponsible and foolish to blame the media for violence in our society.

As far as I am concern, I strongly believe that the amount of violence in films and TV should be controlled. At the same time, we cannot deny the advantages brought by them. And the best policy is to develop the merits of the violent films and television, while grading and filtering them.

For example, there are many people who do not have a proper house to stay in. Road workers and construction workers are earning low wages. There are many families where there are sick males who are unable to do any job. So, the government should give its help and support to these poorer sections of the society.

Another argument against giving financial aid to artists is that most of them have some sort of university education. So if they are not able to earn as much as they want, they can do some other job to supplement their income.

In conclusion, artists are getting enough income and government support is not mandatory for them. Therefore I strongly disagree with the statement.
