1. Why do you think advertising influences what people buy very strongly?

Advertising is a very powerful tool in the media. Because many people do not have the real knowledge of the product, most of the time they rely on media for information, which they think is trustworthy.

2. Do you think advertising creates a need that otherwise wouldn't exist?

Definitely, if there is no advertising, consumers will not realize certain products exist so they will not buy it. With advertising, consumers are introduced to products and will be stimulated to make purchases.

3. Can you give me an example of advertising that you don't like?

Yes, I don't like advertising targeting at children. I think children are too young to make a rational decision. Children are most easily influenced by what they see on the advertisement. I think this is not healthy for children and even a headache for parents if the kids always pester their parents to buy things for them.

A Friend Who Travels By Air

You should say:

who this person is

how often he/she travels by air

where he/she usually travels to

and explain why he/she often travels by air

My friend Maryna has a very glamorous life and is a bit of a jet setter. We used to study together at university, but since then our lives have taken very different roads. Despite this, we still stay in contact and keep each other up-to-date with the latest goings on.

As far as I know, she travels a couple of times a month with her job. She has a frequent flyer card and racks up loads of air miles, which she can save and then use to get free flights anywhere in the world. It’s amazing! She also travels business class, which is very luxurious.

She’s been all over the globe and she’s collected an impressive array of stamps in her passport, but I think she usually flies to the . as her company has a branch in New York. The flight time to New York from Beijing is very long, even a direct flight can take thirteen and a half hours. It can take her body a few days to adjust and she suffers a lot from jet lag.

I couldn’t tell you exactly what she does, it’s all a bit over my head, but she’s ob-viously very high up in her company. Even though technology makes it easy to have meetings with people who are on the other side of the world, it is important for her to meet face-to-face with clients and check on the other branches in person. That’s why she must travel so much, which may be enviable or not, depending on how you look at it.

雅思口语part2范文(篇四)

Weekends:

Is weekend important to people?

Definitely it is. In my opinion, when people are very tired or annoyed during weekdays, they need some leisure activities to relax their tension on weekends, and then they can continue more effectively and efficiently. Also, people can do their own business on weekends because they are busy in during work, such as visiting relations and friends, shopping for necessaries and clothes.

What do people do on weekend?

Well, as I just said. People can choose to carry on their personal business or just relax. They can visit and talk to their friends to keep the relationship going on, read books and magazines of their interests, do sports to keep fit, or watch TV to relax their tension. For my family, we always go to supermarket to buy some daily necessaries together, or go to shopping mall to have fun.

Do you think people should be asked to work on weekends?

No, I don’t think so. They will be too tired in the weekdays to go on concentrating on their jobs on weekends. Although they are forced to work, the production and effectiveness will be very low. Also, the employees will complain on the company since they have the right to have a rest, so the loyalty will be reduced.

Do you think people should get more money if they work on weekends?

Firstly, I don’t think people should be asked to work on weekends. But if there are some urgent tasks, then they should get more money for the extra hours. Because employees have the right to relax and do their personal business on weekends, to respect them and to keep the effectiveness, the manager should pay them more for the work on weekends.

Which day do you like more on weekend?

I think I prefer Sunday, because I always plan to review the knowledge taught during the week or deal with the assignments on Saturdays and have relax on Sundays. You know, all the people prefer rest than studies~Haa~

What do you often do on that day?

Well, in the mornings, I always spend with my friends. We will go to a fitness centre to do some exercise together, or just sit in a Café to chat and share the recent lives. Then in the afternoons, my parents and I will go to supermarket to buy some daily necessaries together, or go to shopping mall to have fun. In the evenings, I’ll put myself into the busy studies again, to plan the timetable for next week.

Do you think that people will spend more money on weekends?

Well, I think it depends. Some people like me always go shopping on weekends, so absolutely we will spend more money. Or some like watching movies in a cinema, or having dinner with friends in a restaurant, so are all expensive. But some people only like watching TV at home, or read books in a library, so they will spend the same amount of money on weekend as in weekdays, or maybe even less.

雅思口语part2范文(篇五)

At the end of the fourth year in the university, students are facing two choices: to find a job or to go on studying in a master's degree. Before making up their mind, they have to consider everything carefully.

Some students prefer to work upon graduation. Their parents have supported them financially throughout their university years, and now with a bachelor's degree they can easily find a job. They want to be independent of their parents as early as possible. Besides, practical experience seems more important to them than book knowledge. Of course, they are always aware that it is hard to find a satisfactory job with their first academic degree. Other students would rather study towards a master's degree because they think more theory and a higher degree can enable them to do work in an ideal position in future. But the disadvantage of this choice is obvious: they have to spend another three years before they can earn money.

I have decided to continue my studies to get a masters' and a doctor's degree. It has always been my dream to be a successful scientist. Money is no problem to me as my parents are quite rich and they will certainly help me when I need money to get married.

. How can technology make our life easier?

A. Technology is the use of invented science and the uses of technological tools and that have made our life easier. For example, we are using watches to get time, watching television for different reasons, and using telephones for communication purposes etc and thus our life is made easier than before. But if there were no clock, television or telephone invented, certainly we should have stayed in the primitive age. The current advancement would not have been possible. Technology has changed that way we study, work or even spend our leisure time. With the help of the technology, we can have a better life standard with much more efficient tools and devices to help us in every way possible.

. What are some greatest inventions you know about?

A. There are a large number of inventions have been done so far, but the most important invention appears to me is the invention of electricity. Then I should consider the invention of wheels which truly has made the communication system and travelling easier to us. Thirdly I should consider the invention of Internet, which has radically changed the world. Apart from that light bulbs, aeroplane, penicillin, telephone are some other greatest inventions of all time in my opinion.

. Why should we restrict the use of mobile phone in public places?

A. Mobile phone, undoubtedly, is an important invention but it has some detrimental impacts too. Using mobile phones at public places may appear indecent. Mobile phone users talk about countless issues but sometimes the speeches may cause irritation to others existing on the public spots. Moreover, the speakers may also reveal their secrets inadvertently that may hamper their privacy. Moreover, since the public places are always crowded, the chance of accidents is more while talking on mobile phones.

. Why mobile phones are gaining its popularity?

A. Mobile phones are gaining popularity as those are easy to carry. Moreover, someone can buy a mobile phone at an affordable cost and without any legal complexities. Besides, the tariffs are also economic. It is far more convenient that other means of communication system and faster to deliver the message. So, the mobile phones are gaining popularity gradually.

. Can you do without your mobile phone?

A. In the current days, it is impossible for me to do without a mobile phone for a single day. I need the phone not only for communication purpose, but I also use the phone for passing my time by playing games, using internet applications and more other necessary issues. So it would be quite difficult for me not to use the mobile phone.

Sample answer:

Last year, during the summer, my hometown Quanzhou had its first Apple store, which was located in the city center. The Apple store is on the ground floor of Wanda shopping mall. Since my hometown is a small place where used to be famous for fishing and agriculture, many people in my hometown still have no sense to the smart store's existence has become a unique landmark, which attracts hundreds of locals to visit it everyday.

You should say:

- what kind of job it was

- where did you learn about it

- what kind of training/ skills are needed for that job

and explain why it was your dream job.

雅思口语part 2范文

When I was young, I wanted to work for a major aviation company as a pilot. In fact, becoming a pilot, who flies commercial aeroplanes, was my dream in my childhood.

I have heard about this job from my teachers and relatives in my childhood and then I had a superficial idea about this job. When I was 15 or 16 years old, I saw a documentary on the tasks the pilots do in Discovery channel that gave me a clear idea of the jobs of a commercial aeroplane pilot.

Working as a pilot requires a very comprehensive training and to become a good pilot one needs very good quality and skill sets. Usually, the commercial airline companies hire the candidates and then give them comprehensive training, both theoretical and practical, and after particular hours of flawless flying records, the candidates are sent to work for their jobs. The theoretical parts teach them the different aspects of flying, route, safety and process guidelines where the practical parts allow them to actually fly a real aeroplane. They need to prove that they have gained sufficient skills to fly a commercial plane before they are appointed to do the job.

I was a fascination on flying the aero plane in the sky. It was a thrilling job to me when I was a young. Since different people of the family members started giving me the idea of good careers and what I would become in the future, I started speculating my own idea and I found the job of a pilot very exciting and prestigious. I knew that being a pilot would allow me to visit different countries across our boundaries and would allow me to meet different people and these 2 ideas also attracted me toward this job. For all those reasons it was my dream job when I was young.

Which jobs would you say are most respected in your country?

If I were asked what the most respected jobs in the country are, I would have to say it would be professional careers such as the fields of law, medicine and engineering. It is the “mainstream choice” and common understanding of parents what they would likely have as a career for their children, simply because of its high projected income and career growth.

Some people say it’s better to work for yourself than be employed by a company. What’s your view?

I would have to say that I agree with the Chinese billionaire Jack Ma. For young people, it is wise to go to a small company because in a big company you are working as part of a system and you are doing specialized repetitive tasks. But when you go to a small company, you’ll learn the passion, the dreams and you’ll learn to do a lot of things at one time.

As you grow, focus on learning and in gathering and developing your skills. When you think you have learned enough, that is the time when you have to think clearly – if you want to be an entrepreneur and to work for yourself.

What changes in employment have there been in recent years in your country?

There has been a rejuvenation of the “entrepreneurial spirit” in our country; more and more people are involved in starting their own businesses. The “start-up” community is now more alive than ever, even college students launch their start-up businesses while in a university. Even though there is a high failing rate of start-up businesses; still, people are starting to take risk and put their ideas into creation.

You should say:

- who you would like to give this gift to

- what the gift would be

- how much it would cost

and explain why you would like to give this gift to this person.

My best friend’s birthday is coming. I would like to buy a small photo album and I want to put 50 pictures in that album. Most importantly, I will write about funny experience we had before below each photo with "the birthday book" on the front page. It might cost less than 100 but I promise she will love it.

I still remember she once said "…suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come…" We are friends since we both are wimpy kids. We have been through a lot of difficulties and have a lot of stories during these 20 years. Those 50 pictures record everything and each experience we together. It is not expensive but it is creative and cute with all my memories, so I bet she loves that.

Children are said to be “flowers of our Motherland”. In our country, children are taking very good care of. Special laws have been issued to protect children. Thousands of schools have been set up to make education available to all children. The party and the government pay due attention to the growth of children because they represent our bright future.

Nowadays, the“one child per family” policy had been practiced all over the country. So far the policy has been showing positive effects. For example, parents have more time and energy to look after their children, and as a result, children become healthier and more intelligent. However, the“one child per family” policy also has some side-effects. For instance, a number of parents have gone too far in raising their children. They try to satisfy every demand of their spoiled kids, thus turning them into“flowers in the nursery” that cannot bear any hardship or difficulty.

It is time we should discuss and study the problem of education children.

Describe a time that you were shopping in a street market

You should say:

When it was

Where it was

What you bought

How you felt about the shopping experience

雅思口语part 2参考范文

There's one particular street market I remember visiting a few years ago. I was traveling with some friends in Mexico and we stopped off in a town called Cuernavaca.

We went to explore the center of the town one morning and it was literally mobbed with people, I think it was a Tuesday morning if I remember correctly. Anyway we asked one of the locals what was going on and they explained that it was 'market day' which apparently is a big event for them.

We strolled down the street to see what all the fuss was about. When we arrived at the market it was really impressive, it spanned about 5 blocks and there seemed to be all kinds of different things you could buy. We saw clothes, food, shoes, jewelry and many local crafts for sale as well.

I think we must have spent a couple of hours there just exploring all the market stalls and some of us bought some souvenirs for friends back home. It was a great experience because there were people from all over the region who had come to set up their stalls and sell their goods there.

After we had finished looking at everything we stopped at one of the food stalls to have some lunch, some spicy tacos and a nice refreshing beer, it was excellent.

I think it's one of the biggest markets I've ever been to, and it was certainly one of the most colorful. They even had buskers there performing all day. As i said, we spent at least a couple of hours looking at all the offerings, but apparently it goes on well into the night as well. They run it for 2 days back to back once a month.

I began to realize why it was such a big event for the locals, it was really amazing and I've certainly never seen a market like it since then.

Market day is a big tradition for the town and the locals always look forward to it each month. Apparently it used to be quite a small affair when it first started hundreds of years ago, but it's grown and grown, and when we were there it was almost like a supermarket, but out on the street.

雅思口语part 3题目及答案

Do people in your country enjoy going to open-air markets that sell things like food or clothes or old objects? Which type of market is more popular? Why?

The people of my country usually shop their necessaries from the open-air markets. It is like a culture for them to visit the markets once a day. So, it seems they enjoy much in shopping in those markets more than shopping at the concrete-build shopping malls. The shopping malls are popular among the top class people but most of the ordinary people like to visit the open markets for some specific reasons. The first cause is that a large variety of a single product is available there which is not found at the attractive shopping malls. Besides, the sellers in the shopping malls have no bargaining policy which is practised and the common feature at the open markets.

Do you think markets are more suitable places for selling certain types of things? Which ones? Why do you think this is?

The markets are visited by most of the commoners and they are on their way to home. So, those places are suitable to sell certain types of things like small electronic gadgets, hair cut facilities, clothes for common use etc. The things are sold in the open markets as the products and things are frequently used and thus get damaged soon, but the people do not care about using those with care as they are less expensive comparing to the shopping malls and available in the open markets.

Do you think young people feel the same about shopping at markets as older people? Why is that?

In fact, the feelings of shopping differ from generation to generation in the country. The feelings of the old and adults are not the same for several reasons over using any product. When they are at the market, the adults may start recalling their past over any specific product – how it was, how they used the product etc. But it is entirely different for the younger people because they have no memories to recall any product as they are the fresh users of the products. Moreover, the choices may also differ from the older people for the age-group distance and gap.

What do you think are the advantages of buying things from shops rather than markets?

If you buy something from a shop, it could be easier for you to check the thing rightly before you finally purchase that. But in markets, you might not have that chance to check the thing properly and the sellers at the markets may turn reluctant to change the product or service. Moreover, if you want hassle-free shopping and without bargaining, shops are the best places for you rather than markets. Another difference between these two places is the prices of the products.

Describe a famous person you want to meet, who is in the news.

You should say:

who the person is

how do you know him

why he is in the news

why do you want to meet him.

One person I’d really like to meet is the entrepreneur, Jack Ma. He is the founder and chairman of Alibaba, which runs websites such as Taobao and TMall. He’s the richest man in mainland China and is worth not just millions, but billions of dollars!

I first heard about Jack Ma when I saw him on the news on TV. His company is talked about a lot as so many people use their products on a daily basis and because they are making so much money. Nowadays he is not just a celebrity in China, but is known all over the world, he’s a bit like the Chinese Bill Gates.

Recently, he has been in the news because of an advertisement his company placed, asking for an attractive girl to keep up people’s morale in the office. It hit the headlines as it was seen as being sexist and misogynistic. Jack Ma had to go on TV to defend the advert and play down the story, saying it was just a bit of fun.

I’d love to meet him because he comes across as a nice guy when I see him in interviews. Even though he is filthy rich, he still seems very down-to-earth and uses a lot of his money for philanthropic acts, such as donating to education, health care and environmental causes. He also used to be an English teacher back in the day and his English is top-notch, so maybe he could give me some tips!

雅思口语part2范文(篇十四)

Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most significant persons in world history and he is often considered as the most diversely talented person ever to have lived in human history. His full name was ‘Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci’ and lived from 1452 – 1519 mainly in Italy. He had an incomparable talent and he excelled as a painter, engineer, mathematician, architect, geologist, writer, cartographer, inventor, botanist, sculptor, anatomist, and musician.

He probably would have been a famous person in history only because of his perfection and talent in art, let along the other talents he had. He was a genus and a second to none figure of Renaissance humanist ideal. The talent, curiosity and logic he presented at his time of living were simply superhuman. His famous painting includes Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Vitruvian Man, The Creation of Adam and the world now revere these works as the greatest art works of all time. In many art colleges and institutes, his works are considered to be the model works and grammar for fine work on art. His arts, paintings and notebooks compose a contribution to later generations of artists.

He is also esteemed for his ingenuity in technology and many of his ideas inspired some later invention in the field of science and engineering. His contribution in technology includes the conceptualization and experiments in solar power, flying machines, armoured vehicles, calculating machine etc. He was a high class inventor and visionary of science. His other inventions like bobbing winder, optics and hydrodynamics were well ahead of his time. He has great contribution in anatomy, civil engineering and optics as well. It would require a large volume of books to list down his contributions and talents. He would be revered throughout the history and in my opinion he is one of most influential and famous historical figure the world has ever seen.

雅思口语part2范文(篇十五)

Describe a fashionable person.

You should say:

who he or she is

how you knew him or her

what he or she is like

why you think he or she is fashionable.

As you can see, I’m hardly a slave to fashion. But by contrast, I’d have to say that my friend Gary is the most fashionable person I know.

He’s one of my oldest and dearest friends. We’ve known each other since we were kids, and for as long as I can remember he's always kept up-to-date with the latest trends and fashions. When we first met, he was one of the ‘in crowd’ and I suppose you would call me a geek. I would occasionally get bullied or picked on by the more popular students. However, Gary took me under his wing and shared his knowledge so I was able to revamp my wardrobe and finally fit in with the cool kids.

Nowadays, he’s still always got his head in a glossy magazine, such as ‘GQ’, keeping abreast of the current must-have clothes or accessories. He has a subscription to many of these lifestyle magazines, so the coffee table in his living room is stacked a mile high with them, as is his bathroom!

It’s no mystery why I think he’s so fashionable, you’d only have to see a picture of him to understand. He just oozes style and charisma and I’m sure I’m not alone in considering him my fashion icon. He seems to have something for every occasion, whether it’s a tailor-made suit, something vintage or maybe even sportswear.

雅思口语part2范文(篇十六)

A Person Whose Job Is Important

You should say:

who he is

what job he does

what skills his job needs

and explain why do you think it is an important job

I’m sure I’m not the first person to say that teaching is a very important job in society, but I’d like to talk about someone who I saw on TV, who works in very underprivileged areas in America.

The programme I saw told the story of a young American teacher, whose name escapes me right now. He had recently graduated and was sent to teach in a very poor area in Brooklyn. He primarily taught the students science, but was also called upon to help break up fights or talk to the students when they had problems.

As a teacher, the man obviously had to be knowledgeable, organised and dedicated. But due to the testing conditions he also had to be particularly patient and disciplined, whilst maintaining a good rapport with the students. In the beginning this was very hard as they didn’t respect or trust him, but eventually he earned their trust and managed to get through to them.

I think teaching is important to society no matter where you are based, but teaching in such a difficult environment is even more admirable and important as the students are in even greater need. For a lot of them, education is the only way to drag them-selves out of poverty and escape a life of crime or hardship. Even if they are not always successful and may feel like they are banging their head against a brick wall sometimes, it is important for these teachers to continue trying.

Describe a famous person (not from your country)

You should say:

who this person is (or was)

how you know about this person

what type of work he or she does

and explain how he or she made an impression.

Let me talk about Kristen Stewart, a pop icon in the USA. She is best known for playing Bella in The Twilight. However, having seen Stewart in a number of movies and read a few articles about her, I will say I’m a fan. I know lots of people will not be on my side here, and I respect that. However, there’s just something about her that I like. And I’m here to decipher why it is I think I like her.

I’m not saying she’s the best actress in the world. Hell, I’m not even saying that she’s all that good. What I am saying however, is that she elicits a vibe and it’s a different vibe. I just think there’s this unspoken quality about her that I like. It’s kind of a not caring, free willing, dark, bored kind of a thing that I’m drawn is a bubbly girl, and not even grumpy at all. She stays grounded and down to earth. Moreover, she's good to her fans and she doesn't let the fame go to her head. The girl will just rock up to the airport in jeans and a t-shirt unlike most celebrities who will act like it's a fashion show.

She seems like she doesn’t care about what people think. I think that’s an attractive quality. This girl just does what she does. I think she is so real and super gorgeous. And who doesn’t like her are just simply jealous. I wish her the best!

雅思口语part2范文(篇十八)

I only watch TV occasionally, but there are still many TV programs that I like. I recently watched a program called 1 versus 100, which is a quiz show presented on Hunan TV channel.

We can easily tell the nature of the program by hearing the name. There will be one challenger versus one hundred opponents at each show. Both the one and the one hundred will be given the same multiple-choice questions. One question is asked at a time, and the one hundred answer first, then it will be the one’s turn. Since the one is alone, during the show he/she is allowed to ask for help three times, including making a phone call, following the majority, or asking the presenter to eliminate one wrong answer.

Each time, some of the one hundred will be eliminated if they get the answer wrong. In the end, if the one answers all the questions correctly, the one will win the game and get a big amount of money as the prize. However, if the one fails, the money will be divided by the remaining opponents. Maybe because of the big prize or the competitive atmosphere, the participants are always very excited.

The reason I like it is that this quiz show asks some simple questions that we are supposed to know but a lot of people actually have never thought about them. For example, one question asked was about the picture on the back of a 50 yuan RMB, but the majority of the one hundred got this simple question wrong. I have seen several shows, but I have never seen the one answered all the questions correctly. I began to wonder that maybe I could enter for the show, too, because I actually knew the answers of a lot of their questions. I think it will be fun if I can try.

In what ways does human activity result in the extinction (or near extinction) of some animal species?

At present, many animals are already facing extinction. How do you think average citizens could (help) protect wild animals?

Why do you think films or books for children so often include animals?

I found there was a bat nest in my balcony recently, and one night I happened to see they flew across the patio under our apartment and hover in the sky. I was shocked, because it was dark outside but they knew exactly where to go without mistakes. Moreover, they went out only at night.

I thought bats are interesting not because they can fly in the dark since I know they are nocturnal animals. I always think the ability which aids bats fly and prey capture is their unusual eye-sight, like another nocturnal animal, owls. But the truth is because of their echolocation. Bat echolocation is a perceptual system where ultrasonic sounds are emitted specifically to produce echoes. By comparing the outgoing pulse with the returning echoes the brain and auditory nervous system can produce detailed images of the bat's surroundings. This allows bats to detect, localize and even classify their prey in complete darkness.

Some people believe commodities that are popular among consumers reflect the power of advertisement rather than the real needs of people. Do you agree or disagree?

Whether we like it or not, advertisement has been pouring into our daily life. They are so powerful that some people believe that it is not the needs of people but the power advertisement that makes commodities popular. Personally I don't agree with this opinion.

First, let's make clear what the real needs of people are. Real needs can be divided into two categories: the material satisfaction and spiritual satisfaction. People tend to regard material satisfaction as real needs and spiritual satisfaction as waste of money and time. This is not true. Some commodities may not be useful but they can give the owner a kind of satisfaction.

Second, let's make clear the reason why advertisement is powerful. The key principle of advertisers is to grasp the needs of consumers, then pass the potential consumers the information that their commodities can meet your need. Advertisers can promote the needs of people, exploit the needs or even produce the needs of people. But whatever they do, it will be based on the needs of people.

But there are some advertisements that exaggerate the functions of the commodities to tell the wrong information to consumers. They make the commodities popular by cheating the majority of consumers. And also there are some commodities that do harm to the health of consumers and to the society. For example, smoking is poisonous, but the advertisements try to make a heroic image of the smokers, as the result smoking is popular among young men who are dreaming to become heroes in women's eyes. But such advertisements are minorities.

In summary, advertisements bring us convenience to choose the commodities that can meet our needs. Most of the commodities are popular due to their usefulness, only some of them are due to the influence of advertisement.
