托福机经范文(篇一)

Now listen to two students discussing the opinion expressed in the letter.

(man) Did you see Paul’s letter in the paper about the new sculpture?

(woman) Yeah, but it was totally unconvincing. His reasons for opposing the plan are just totally o ff. I am glad that we’ll finally have some nice art on campus. I’d like to shake the donor ’s hand and say “thank you.”

(man) What do you mean the donor?

(woman) You didn't know? An anonymous donor is paying the bill for most of the sculpture.

(man) Not the university?

(woman) No! His assumptions about who’s paying are all wrong!

(man) Still, I wonder if he has a point about the space it’ll take up?

(woman) Well, you know why Paul is upset. He an d his friends are always out there on the lawn right where the sculpture will be, kicking around the soccer ball. Now they’ll just have to use another part of the campus to play.

(man) Oh! So he just doesn't want to have to move.

(woman) Yeah! For him, it’s sculpture versus convenience.

The one that I personally admire the most is a character named Alan Shore in a TV series called Boston Legal. Maybe you have heard about it. This character has changed my definition of what a perfect man is and what characteristics one should hopefully possess. He is decent, a man of his word, one of the very few that I regard as having a strong sense of justice. Yet he is not bound up by the rules and knows when to break them to achieve the ultimate good. And he is interesting and eloquent, all the things that I desire to have. (103)

托福机经范文(篇四)

Well, I think the most important decision I made is my plan of going to the USA to further my great thing about this decision is that I could learn more new knowledge in my field. The education quality and scientific research in America are the best all over the important thing is that I could experience a new culture and form a brand new system of ideas. This is especially important if I took a job in a transnational company after I , I could make a lot of friends from different parts of the world. And they might help me a lot in my future career because the bigger your business network is, the better your performance will be.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Well, the most frequent thing I do in my spare time is to take a walk in a park near my college. Every time I step into the park, with the birds singing and the bamboo trees swaying leisurely, I will forget all those vexations and troubles I have could feel the bracing breeze touch my face and smell the pleasant scent of the grass, and then take a deep breath and all my pressure from work and study will vanish into the air. Another thing worth mentioning is that in the peaceful environment I can think over many things deeply. I can have an introspection of my past and look into the future and this benefits me a lot because it helps me realize my defects, make clear my objective and adjust my plans.

deeply impressed celebration or moment

Describe a social or political celebration event in your culture.

Well, I want to talk about the Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is the first day of lunar year. On this day, all family members get together to have a good meal and the dumplings are indispensable. People hold a series of activities such as dragon and lion dancing to celebrate this most of Chinese people, it’s the most important day in a whole year. No matter how busy we are, we will go to great length to spare a few days to go home and have a family reunion. For children, this day is one of the happiest days all through the year for they can get lucky money from their parents. During the Spring Festival, people go to visit friends and relatives. It is very exciting to visit them after a long year’s separation.

托福机经范文(篇五)

There are advantages and disadvantages to a childhood in either the country or a city. It's hard to say which is better. Growing up in the country means a certain amount of isolation. You're in a small town or on a armband not with a lot of people. Even more important, the people you meet everyday tend to be just like you. Most will be the same race as you, have the same background as you, and will have gone to the same school as you. In the city, the people you meet are different. There are different races and different cultures. You get a more interesting mix.

City people tend to come from a lot of different places and move around a lot. So, there isn't the sense of community in the city that you have in the country. People in the city can live in the same apartment building for twenty years and never get to know their neighbors. In the country, everybody knows everybody. For a child, this means the country is more secure. A child can get lost or hurt in the city and have no one to turn to. In the country, everyone’s a neighbor. People in the country feel connected to each other.

A child growing up in the city has the advantages of a lot of interesting and exciting place to visit. He or she can go to the zoo, museum, art galleries and concerts. There are a lot of restaurants with different kinds of food. It’s easy to see every new movie that comes out. Child in the country don't have a lot of these activities nearby.

All in all, I think a childhood in the city is better because it prepares you more for what real life is like.

I think television has a positive influence on society. It’s a good source of news. The members in the society can get news easily from News Channels and thus keep themselves informed of what’s happening around. Like, my grandfather watches News on TV everyday just to keep up with the latest television can be a kind of entertainment. People can watch different shows on TV such as funny talk shows and soap operas. I have many friends who like watching Late show with David Letterman and some other friends like watching TV series such as Lost and Friends. They all consider TV as a good way of relaxing themselves and of killing time. So, with the news and same TV programs, people in a society share a lot of things that they can talk about in any event. Therefore, society actually benefits from TV.

托福综合写作25分范文一:

In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay in order to do so. A mandatory policy requiring companies to offer their employees the option of working a four-day workweek for four-fifths (80 percent) of their normal pay would benefit the economy as a whole as well as the individual companies and the employees who decided to take the option. The shortened workweek would increase company profits because employees would feel more rested and alert, and as a result, they would make fewer costly errors in their work. Hiring more staff to ensure that the same amount of work would be accomplished would not result in additional payroll costs because four-day employees would only be paid 80 percent of the normal rate. In the end, companies would have fewer overworked and error-prone employees for the same money, which would increase company benefits. For the country as a whole, one of the primary benefits of offering this option to employees is that it would reduce unemployment rate. If many full-time employees started working fewer hours, some of their workload would have to be shifted to others. Thus, for every four employees who went on an 80 percent week, a new employee could be hired at the 80 percent rate. Finally, the option of a four-day workweek would be better for individual employees. Employees who could afford a lower salary in exchange for more free time could improve the quality of their lives by spending the extra time with their families, pursuing private interests or enjoying leisure activities.

托福综合写作25分范文二:

Irrigation, the artificial watering of land for agriculture, uses water from a number of sources: direct rainfall, direct stream flow, water stored in lakes and reservoirs, high-quality groundwater, brackish surface water, and even seawater. Water for irrigation is diverted from rivers and lakes or pumped underground. Different crops have different irrigation requirements, so there are many forms of irrigation and types of irrigation technology.

Various methods of surface irrigation deliver water to a field directly from a canal, well, or ditch. The surface technique of flooding large fields is widely used because of low capital costs and long tradition. Furrow irrigation, practiced since ancient times, involves digging numerous U-or V-shaped open furrows through irrigated land and introducing water into them from a channel at the top of a field. As with other surface techniques, water collects into ponds on the field. In surface-pipe irrigation, the water is piped to the field and distributed via sprinklers or smaller pipes.

Border irrigation is a type of surface irrigation that involves flooding land in long parallel strips separated by earth banks built lengthwise in the direction of the slope of the land. Water flows from the highest point in the field to the lowest. Basin irrigation is similar to border irrigation but includes earth banks constructed crosswise to those used for border irrigation, dividing a field into a series of basins that can be separately irrigated.

Most people are so busy that there is occasionally too much to do, so they must work on several projects at once. In fact, there are actually many advantages to working on two or more projects simultaneously as opposed merely to doing them one at a time.

Nowadays, there is simply not enough time to work exclusively on one project, so people must often take on two or more tasks together. Indeed, by doing several projects at once, a person can actually save time. For example, once I had to write an article for my school newspaper and study for a Chinese decided to do them both together, so I listened to my Chinese lessons on a CD while writing the did well on the test and submitted the article on time. Sometimes, one can save time by doing activities together and still do them well.

By working on several things at once, I find that I can focus more on the tasks at hand. This serves to enhance my performance, thereby letting me do work better and quicker. Last semester,I had to study for two tests and write a paper on the same was worried about all this work, so I concentrated solely on my turned off my cell phone, shut down my computer, and stayed in my room until I had completed all those tasks. Being focused exclusively on those projects enabled me to ignore the unimportant things and focus on what was crucial.

Lastly, while doing several things at once can be stressful, doing so successfully can be rewarding. By showing you are capable of multitasking, you can prove you skills and abilities to others. For instance, I volunteer at my school's library. The librarian once asked me to do two things simultaneously; catalog all the new books and complete a plan for a reading project for children. I managed to finish both jobs on time, which impressed the librarian so much that she recommended me for a summer job at the local library. Showing people you can do good work will always benefit you in the future. In conclusion, doing several projects at once can save time, enhance one's performance, and be rewarding in the benefits one receives. While multitasking might not be for everyone, I have found it to be an enjoyable and beneficial experience.

托福机经范文(篇九)

The zebra mussel, a freshwater shellfish native to Eastern Europe, has long been spreading out from its original habitats and has now reached parts of North America. There are reasons to believe that this invasion cannot be stopped and that it poses a serious threat to freshwater fish populations in all of North America.

First, the history of the zebra mussel's spread suggests that the invasion might be unstoppable. It is a prime example of an invasion made possible by human transportation. From the zebra mussel,s original habitats in Eastern Europe, ships helped spread it out along new canals built to connect Europe’s waterways. The mussel can attach itself to a ship’ s bottom or can survive in the water—called "ballast water"—that the ship needs to take on to properly balance its cargo. By the early nineteenth century, the mussel had spread to the whole of Europe. It was later carried to the east coast of North America in the ballast water of ships traveling from Europe. The way ships have spread the zebra mussel in the past strongly suggests that the species will soon colonize all of North America.

Moreover, once zebra mussels are carried to a new habitat, they can dominate it. They are a hardy species that does well under a variety of conditions, and they have a high rate of reproduction. Most important, however, zebra mussels often have no predators in their new habitats, and species without natural predators are likely to dominate their habitats.

Finally, zebra mussels are likely to cause a decline in the overall fish population in habitats where they become dominant. The mussels are plankton eaters, which means that they compete for food with many freshwater fish species.

Well, I would say I’d like to do homework with others. First off, I can finish the homework more effectively. I am the kind of person who find theory based subjects are hard to learn, like math, physics and chemistry and I need to discuss with my friends in order to finish the homework. They might offer me new perspectives to solve the problems in the homework. Additionally, working together with others to finish the homework helps to develop cooperation with each other. Cooperation awareness can be beneficial in the future working environment. So, that is why I’d like to work with others to finish the homework.
