Handsome and ambitious, Julien Sorel is determined to rise above his humble peasant origins and make something of his life-by adopting the code of hypocrisy by which his society operates. Julien ultimately commits a crime-out of passion, principle, or insanity-that will bring about his downfall. The Red and the Black is a lively, satirical picture of French Restoration society after Waterloo, riddled with corruption, greed, and ennui. The complex, sympathetic portrayal of Julien, the cold exploiter whose Machiavellian campaign is undercut by his own emotions, makes him Stendhals most brilliant and human creation-and one of the greatest characters in European literature.

I really enjoyed this book. Unlike many reviewers, I feel the book does transcend time. American people and culture today, computers and all, are a lot like those in Stendhals 19th century France.

The main characters strike me as real, and quite complex. Julien is a typical adolescent/ young adult: Idealistic, searching and unsure of himself. To me, it is amazing to what how the world interacts with and alters his self-image. Mathilde is equally interesting. She reminds me of a flighty alternative girl, looking for a dream of simmering romance. And MME de Renal is a wonderful, believable woman, falling in love late in life, victim of the missing husband syndrome.

Like people today, Stedhals characters are a bundle of contradictions. Is Julien a villain, an angel, a self-serving climber or a man truly in love, searching for his higher self? Aloof or loveable? Is MME de Renal a devout, moral patroness, devoted to her family, or the vilest of adulators, ready to turn her back on duty for the simmer of love? Is Mathilde submissive, or arrogant and dominant? The answer to all questions is yes. We are all divided.

Be honest with yourself for a minute. Arent people sometimes cruel, and sometimes kind; Sometimes, honest, sometimes mildly deceitful, telling white lies, and sometimes bold-faced liars? Since Stendhal is faithful to this, and does not give us character in black and white, he has produced a masterpiece.

首先，应了解读书笔记的类型。读书笔记一般有批注、摘录、提纲、心得等几种。写读书笔记时，可根据写笔记的目的、书的类型及自己的习惯，确定写什么样的读书笔记。

1、批注笔记。即边读边把自己的看法、疑问等或在书上划出表示重点、次重点、疑问等等的符号，或在书的天头、地脑作些评语和注释。这种读书笔记简单易行，但首先得书是自己的，别人的书，不能乱画；即使是自己的书，下批注时也应先多想想：自己的看法对不对？怎么表述才简明，然后才写。因书上的空白处不多，想到就写，写了又感到不合适，那就会把书划得乱七八糟了。

3、提纲笔记。就是将读过的书的中心思想、段落大意、内容要点及写作方法等等，以提纲挈领的方式写出来。

4、心得笔记。就是阅读后，将自己的心得、体会、感想等写出来。也叫读后感。

5、仿写笔记。即模仿摘录的精彩句子、段落进行仿写，达到学会运用、学以致用。

6、评论笔记。主要是对读物中的人物、事件加以评论，以肯定其思想艺术价值如何。可分为书名、主要内容、评论意见。

7、简缩笔记。为了记住故事梗概，读了一篇较长文章后，抓住主要内容，把它缩写成短文。

不同的读书笔记有不同的作用，可根据实际选择、确定。其次，不论写什么样的读书笔记，有几点是共同的，也是应注意的。

（1）必须认真地读懂原作。这是写好读书笔记的前提。提纲笔记、心得笔记要以读懂原作为基础。就是摘抄笔记，也应细读原文。否则，你的摘抄就可能断章取义，就可能抄破了句。

During this term, I have read a novel The Red and the Black. The novel was written by the French writer Stendhal in the 19th century. Marie·Henri Beyle, better known by his pen name Stendhal, was one of the critical realism French writers in the 19th century 。 The military and theatrical worlds of the First French Empire were a revelation to Beyle. Known for his acute analysis of his characters’ psychology and reflection of society, he is considered one of the earliest and foremost practitioners of realism in his two novels Le Rouge et le Noir (The Red and the Black, 1830) and La Chartreuse de Parme (The Charterhouse of Parma, 1839)。 Stendhal laid down for himself in a diary entry of May 1804:“regard everything I’ve read to date about man as a prediction; believe only what I have seen for myself. 1、摘要式读书笔记

(1)索引读书笔记

索引读书笔记是只记录文章的题目、出处的笔记。如书刊篇目名、编著者、出版年月日、藏书处。如果是书，要记册、章、节，如果是期刊，要记期号，报纸要记年月日和版面，以备日后查找方便。例如：庄照：《也谈为谁立传》，《xxx?〈史学〉》

(2)抄录原文读书笔记

抄录原文读书笔记就是照抄书刊文献中与自己学习、研究有关的精彩语句、段落等作为日后应用的原始材料。摘抄原文要写上分类题目，在引文后面注明出处。

2、评注式读书笔记

(1)书头批注

书头批注，是一种最简易的读书笔记作法。就是在读书的时候，把书中重要的地方和自己体会最深的地方，用笔在字句旁边的空白处打上个符号，或者在空白处加批注，或者是折页、夹纸条作记号等等。这种笔记方法不但对书中的内容可以加深理解，也为日后查找提供了方便。

(2)提纲

提纲是用纲要的形式把一本书或一篇文章的论点、论据提纲挚领地叙述出来。提纲可按原文的章节、段落层次，把主要的内容扼要地写出来。提纲读书笔记可以采用原文的语句和自己的语言相结合的方式来写。

(3)提要

提要和提纲不同。提纲是逐段写出来的要点，提要是综合全文写出要点。提要可以完全用自己的语言扼要地写出读物的内容。提要除客观叙述读物内容外，带有一些评述的性质。

另一种提要，是对一篇文章或一本书的内容梗概作简要的说明。

(4)评注读书笔记

评注读书笔记，是读完读物后对它的得失加以评论，或对疑难之点加以注释，这样的读书笔记叫作评注笔记。例如鲁迅读《蕙櫋杂志》中的一段：清严无照《蕙櫋杂志》：西湖有严嵩和鄂王《满江红》词石刻，甚宏壮。词即慷慨，书亦瘦劲可观，末题华盖大学士。后人磨去姓名，改题夏言。虽属可笔，然亦足以惩奸矣。

案：严嵩篇和岳飞词，有如是作为，后人留词改名，有如是自欺，严先生以为可笔而又许其惩奸，有如是两可。寥寥六十字，写尽三态。

(5)补充原文读书笔记

补充原文的读书笔记，是在读完原书或文章之后，感到有不满足的地方进行补充。需要注意的是补充原文不是随意地加以补充，而是要围绕中心思想加以引申或发挥。

我，作品中的主人公，阿米尔少爷。

哈桑，阿米尔儿时最忠诚的玩伴，是仆人阿里的儿子。他们从小都没有母亲，却又吃同一个人的奶水长大，"喝过同样的乳汁长大的人就是兄弟，这种亲情连时间也无法拆散";他们在一起玩耍，摘桑葚，一起爬山，拿镜子把太阳光反射进邻居家里;他们坐在高高的枝桠上，没穿鞋的脚丫晃来晃去;在山坡上阿米尔会给哈桑讲述在学校里的事请，给哈桑念课本里的故事。那个时候有着兔唇残疾的哈桑仿佛永远微笑着。哈桑坚强勇敢，对阿米尔忠心耿耿，在阿米尔受到阿塞夫欺负的时候，哈桑挺身而出为阿米尔解了围。他们在树上刻着"阿米尔和哈桑，喀布尔的苏丹",在那段纯净的童年时光，他们就是那片乐土的主人。

风筝大赛是阿富汗每年冬季都要举行的比赛。谁的风筝能在天上坚持最长的时间，并且能拿到这只最后坠落的风筝，那就算是赢得了比赛，而哈桑却是追风筝的好手。为了能让父亲对自己另眼相看，阿米尔特别希望能够赢得风筝比赛。在最终的比赛中，经过精心准备的阿米尔终于如愿以偿得到冠军，追风筝的任务便落到了哈桑的身上。"为你千千万万遍",对阿米尔说完这句话，哈桑便跑开追风筝去了。

但悲剧也就此发生，阿塞夫他们几个人把哈桑挤到了一个死胡同，为了保全阿米尔心爱的风筝，哈桑遭受了阿塞夫的侮辱。但此时阿米尔在一旁看到了一切，虽然有千万种冲动要去解救哈桑，但生性懦弱的阿米尔最终并没有挺身而出，而是看着这一切发生。想着哈桑对自己忠诚，自己却背叛了他，阿米尔充满了负罪感。事后，阿米尔多么希望哈桑能责骂他，甚至能够打他一顿，而哈桑并没有这样做，还是像以前那样忠诚。越是这样阿米尔越觉得负罪感深重，为了减轻良心的折磨，他便疏远哈桑，最终设计陷害了哈桑，导致阿里不得不带着哈桑离开了阿米尔的家，从此他们再也没有见过面。父亲在知道哈桑离开后嚎啕大哭，阿米尔一直不能理解这是为什么。

后来，俄国侵占了阿富汗，战争使这个国家满目疮痍，不得已父亲带着阿米尔四处避难，最终到了美国，在那里阿米尔开始了新的生活，成了家，父亲因为癌症的折磨永远的离开了他们。

就在这之后不久，一个从阿富汗打来的电话，扰乱了阿米尔的原本平静的生活。父亲以前的合伙人，阿米尔幼年时唯一的一个成年朋友，拉辛汗从阿富汗打来电话称自己将不久于人世，希望能再见阿米尔一面。

阿米尔又回到了阿富汗，在拉辛汗病榻前，拉辛汗说出了一个隐藏多年的秘密。哈桑是阿米尔同父异母的兄弟，阿米尔一直崇拜的父亲睡了哈桑的母亲。还有哈桑已经被xxx分子枪杀，想要对他弥补自己的过错已经不可能。对于这两个事实阿米尔一时难以接受。在谈话中，拉辛汗显然已经知道当年阿米尔背叛并陷害哈桑的事情，也知道阿米尔因此而遭受的良心的煎熬。"你父亲知道做错了事，他通过做善事来弥补自己的过失","当罪恶导致善行，那就是最大的救赎","这里，有你再次成为好人的路"拉辛汗对阿米尔说。后来阿米尔得知哈桑还有一个可怜的孩子，于是一场自我救赎的行动便展开了。

为了解救哈桑的儿子索拉博，阿米尔不得不再次面对已成为xxx分子的阿塞夫，这次面对杀人不眨眼的阿塞夫，虽然也有恐惧，但是阿米尔终于勇敢地站了出来，像当年哈桑保护他那样，保护索拉博。这迟到二十六年的挺身而出导致阿米尔被打的受了重伤，但他没有感到疼痛，反而是痛快。身体上的伤害弥补了内心深处的内疚与自责，换来了内心的安宁。最终索拉博用弹弓打瞎了阿塞夫的左眼，他们两个逃了出来，并通过努力把索拉博带到了美国与自己一起生活。故事的最后，阿米尔再次放起了风筝。

故事的前半部分让我沉浸于友谊与忠诚的感动中，读的时候让我想起了鲁迅的《从百草园到三味书屋》还有《少年闰土》，孩童时期的游戏以及那份纯真的感情都是如此相似，也许这些美好的东西是不分国界的吧。故事的后半部分我读到的是人性中的懦弱、自私，以及对自我内心的救赎。有些东西我们要勇敢地面对。逃避只能让自己背上更重的心理包袱。也许，勇敢的人不是打不倒的人，而是在每次打到后都能重新站立起来的人。知错一定要及时改，不要用新的错误来掩盖旧的错误。

这部书同时也让我对阿富汗的风俗习惯，社会环境，政治变动，以及阿富汗儿童的苦难与生存现状有了进一步的认识与了解。不仅看到了兄弟情谊，还看到了普什图人对哈扎拉人的种族歧视，以及什叶派xxx与逊尼派xxx的纷争。

早先是苏联入侵阿富汗，阿君主立宪制宣告结束，于是美国支持xxx对抗前苏联。事件后，美国便在阿驻军颠覆xxxxxx。虽然xxxxxx已经xxx，然而直至现在，这个多难的国家一直处在内忧外患之中。书中也描述了战乱中以及xxx统治下的阿富汗的惨状，以及那种环境下人们对和平与安宁的向往。
