^v^级考试并没有改变对写作的测试标准和要求，但在出题顺序上却做了

明显的调整：写作作为第一项考查的内容，被提到^v^级试卷的最开头，这令许多考生感觉不适应。其实，提高写作能力虽然较难，但写作却是一片大有可为的沃土。

考生如果坚持做到如下六大点，就不难在规定的时间内写出一篇成功的英语作文。

一、了解英语写作的测试目的，准确把握题目的要求

英语写作测试，其实主要还是要考查学生组织英语语言的能力，和用英语表达思想的能力，体裁不外乎议论文，说明文和应用文，主题也是在大学生熟知话题基础上的翻新或扩展。 综观历年的四级作文真题，变化趋势是从三段论的议论文向实用性更强的应用文体，尤其是书信写作方面倾斜。考生平时应有意识地就他们感兴趣的一些话题进行思考和拓展，争取在实践中磨练敏锐的审题能力。

二、迅速梳理写作的思路，列出并借助提纲进行写作

到了大学阶段，学生还是非常善于思考的，他们不仅想象力非常丰富，晚上做梦，还经常daydream, 各有独特的思维和写作思路。但是，如何将千头万绪的思路梳理清楚，学生则必须有真工夫。为此，在进行四级写作时，考生一定要首先形成自己的观点，之后合理运用一些手段，如常用的有四种：陈述理由、举例说明、提供数据、下定义等，之后充分就此展开论说。这样通过高效思考，严密组织，再辅以提纲形式的文章架构，考生一定会写出较符合规范的文章。

三、扩展写作提纲，草拟文稿，表述主要观点

在利用提纲展示个人写作思路的基础上，学生还应充分利用现有的英语水平，按照一定的逻辑思路，充分表达个人的观点。写作之初，学生不必字斟句酌，只要脉络清楚，具备轮廓就可以了。草拟文章的过程实际是把思维结果外在化的过程，学生应力争使文章具有连贯性和流畅性。草拟过程的顺利与否，在很大程度上取决于平时训练所达到的水平。许多考生畏惧作文，经常懒于动笔；还有一些考生认为写作很难提高，干脆放弃平时的训练。这些想法都是错误的。为真正提高写作水平，建议大家从开始准备四级的那天起，就应有针对性地分体裁、分话题、分阶段地进行实战模拟，强迫自己一气呵成将文章写完，不必追求完美，不必在乎自己的文稿到底语言有多么不地道或出现多少语法错误。熟能生巧。只要坚持多写、多练，平时注意扩大阅读，写作的水平自然就会提高。

四、在反复揣摩的基础上，完善文章的草稿

自己修改作文是个好习惯，从训练之初就应注重在这个方面下功夫。修改作文必须从下面几个方面把握：注意句式结构的变化(要背诵一定的经典句型，而且要能够注意套改这样的优美句型)。例如：Not because I love Caesar less, but because I love Rome more(不是我不爱凯撒，而是我更爱罗马)。需要指出的是，虽然习作中应注意使用优美或地道的句子，但不可简单地堆砌；句子长短也要错落有致，应包含一些相对复杂的句式，同时避免犯一些基础性的语言错误。 此外，学生还要注意文中运用的英语表达必须是简单且地道的(即easy but right English)。实际上，所谓这类的表达法界于词汇与句子之间，可称为语汇(英语中可用chunk来表达)。为了提高书面语言表达的地道性，学生应经常记忆这样的语汇，如an effective system for environmental protection和an effective system to protect the environment等。同学们加强这方面语汇的记忆，太多的考生经常使用汉语的语法、英语的单词来组合一些中式(chinglish)表达。例如：高手(high hand)地道的英语表达是master hand; 老手(old hand)地道的英语表达则是seasoned hand；能手(can hand)的地道表达则是skillful hand, 以及you go me go, you no go

me no go 等。

至于如何做到语言表达地道，笔者认为只有一种办法，那就是大量阅读，分类摘抄，在具体的语境中有针对性地体验英语表达。

五、正确把握遣词造句的原则

正确选择词汇非常重要，考生切不可盲目地追求大词、生词。其实，四级作文要求考生选词范围尽可能灵活宽泛，但非常忌讳以辞害义，如果能够用decrease，就别用plummet(也是下降的意思)。那么考生到底怎样才能利用有限的词汇资源，写出比较鲜活的英语作文呢？不妨使用以下的词汇技巧：

1、尽量使用同义词避免简单重复

如“增加”可用 increase, rise, grow, climb, go up, soar等；“重要”可用 important, critical, vital, significant, crucial等。

2、尽量使用词性变化来丰富自己的表达手段

和汉语一样，变化词性也是丰富英语表达的重要途径，是学习者提高英语水平的重要标志。英语学习者如果能够用to voice some different opinions 来替代to give/express some different opinions; 或to double/triple 来表示翻倍或增加三倍则会使文章在表达上更为形象而生动。

3、尽量使用派生形式来点缀文章亮点

英语的构词特点就是使用前缀、后缀来完成灵活多变的语言特色。例如，it is of great importance／help/use/significance 来替代 it is very important/significant/helpful/useful 本身就是英语水平的一个综合展示。另外，考生作文如果能够出现not unnecessary/not unimportant 来表达非常重要或者必要，则更能显示考生的英语功底。

六、灵活运用句式变化的规则

前面也提过，四级作文长度要求不少于120个词，按考生作文句子的平均长度11个词估算，一般需要10—12 个句子。在四级作文评分标准里，对于句子长度虽然没有具体描述和量化给分，但是阅卷老师一般都会给文章里使用正确的长句子加上印象分，也会给错落有致的句式变化以奖励分数，如果考生能够在作文中恰当地使用一定难度的复杂句子，则更能起到锦上添花的作用。在写作训练中，考生其实可以欣赏范文，摘录名句，改装结构，模仿使用，直到熟练运用。只要努力，下面的策略可以帮助立志争取作文高分的学生可以通过下面的几个措施来提高作文水平。

1、欣赏范文，但不要囫囵吞枣式地整篇背诵。准备一个写作专用的笔记本，从范文欣赏中摘抄自己喜欢的、老师讲评的、值得推荐的句式结构。比如：I love you not because who you are, but because who I am when I am with you.(我爱你，并不是因为你是谁，而是因为我跟你在一起时的感觉。) Few People today, if any at all, would risk their lives swimming across the river dominated by flesh-eating crocodiles.(今天已经很少有人，如果还有的话，愿意冒生命危险游过那条鳄鱼出没的河流。), If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.(如果你没能做计划，你就是计划着去失败。)

根据经验，四级写作备考可分为四大步骤：

一、背诵：首先认真研究历年四级写作真题，重点研究2006年6月—2008年12月的真题，分析近年来四级写作的出题规律和考试重点，从语言、结构、内容三大层面，认真研读经典写作真题范文：语言方面学习范文中的精彩词汇、词组、句型; 结构方面学习范文的框架结构、内在逻辑、关联词、同义替换和代词替换;内容方面学习范文的论点、论据和论证。同时背诵精彩写作范文，要求滚瓜烂熟、脱口而出、多多益善，扎扎实实提高自己的写作实力。

四、写作：进行完上述工作之后，在考前必须进行写作的工作，只有动笔写作，才会发现自己的问题。可以写5—10篇真题或模拟题，模仿自己曾经背诵过

的精彩词汇、词组、句型、框架和范文，写出一篇新的文章。最初不要求速度，但考前一定要进行模考，半小时写出一篇120-150词的文章。写完之后仔细修改其中的语言错误，将其改的更加精彩。

英语写作基础不太好的四级考生，必须按照上述步骤严格进行; 基础较好的考生学习顺序正好相反，首先写作，直接写作四级真题; 其次中译英，在研读原文之前，进行中译英的工作，译完对比，找出差距; 然后背诵; 最后默写。同时可以准备自己的写作框架，应用文和论说文分别形成固定的写法，积累精彩句型。

2. Write clearly. Be concise. Avoid wordiness.写作清晰，务必精简，避免赘言。

3. Use good grammar and write complete sentences. 使用好的文法，写出完整句子。

4. Write simple sentences. Avoid a fancy style.尝试简单句，避免花哨的句法。

5. Avoid slang, cliche and informal words.避免俚语、陈腔滥调和非正式用字。

1. 最常见错误：从句连接词缺失，最主要的是THERE BE句型：

There is a saying goes ... [应为There is a saying which goes ...]

There are many people think that... [应为There are many people who think that...或者直接说Many people think that...]

It is not difficult to imagine if those rich people have some poor friends with common interests. [if一词显然应该是that，不过更通顺的说法应该是It is not difficult to imagine rich people having some poor friends with similar interests.]

3) 不会使用照应语

We won't ask people whether they have much money or not when making friends with other people. [people和other people显然应该是同指关系，后面的other people应改为them才对。]

作文是对语言的综合运用，可以集中体现出学习者的基本功和思维能力;语感非常重要，不过要形成好的语感还需要长期的反复训练。过去指导英语专业大四学生毕业论文，每届都发现有不少已经过了TEM8的英语专业学生的语言能力有明显缺陷。写作能力必须建立在大量阅读、用心感受和无数次练习的基础上，对此曾对学生反复讲过多次，不过由于无法立竿见影，多数学生不能很好地坚持，很是遗憾。

四级写作指导：用简单句表达复杂思想

应试作文的评分标准尽管描述语言不同，但都可以分为内容、组织和语言三个方面，如果是应用文，还要看语域(主要指语言使用是否符合场合)和格式。^v^级作文的评分标准也不能脱离以上三大方面：内容按照题目提纲扩展即可；组织除了要注意段与段之间的连贯与衔接之外，还要特别注意考生最容易忽略的句与句之间的逻辑性；最难提高的是语言，即用词的丰富性和句子的复杂性。要拿

到^v^级写作高分，就必须在语言上有所起色，语言是绕不过去的一个心结，那么语言突破之路，到底在何方呢？答曰：简单句。

这是从广大考生的实际出发给出的回答。因为学了很多年的英语，大部分考生还是能够写出一些东西的，最起码能够写出一些英语的简单句吧。简单句包括S+V(主谓句)，S+V+O(主谓宾)， S+V+O+O(主谓宾宾)，S+V+O+C(主谓宾宾补)， S+V+C(主系表)，复杂一些的句子无不是由这些简单句演变而来的。

用简单句写复杂思想

学了这么多年英语，为什么还不能写出好的句子？原因在于想得太复杂了。我们可以将要表达的汉语思想，全部说成简单的句子，而简单句，在写作时是考生可以掌控的。之后再将简单句加以润色、组合，使之登堂入室，夺取高分。 例如写这句话：大学生刚刚毕业就想立刻找到高薪的工作是不可能的。看到这样的汉语句子，一般我们的反应是要用It is impossible for sb. to do sth.. 这样的句型，然后想着往里填词：在sb. 的位置填上“刚刚毕业的大学生”，在不定式的位置填上“找到高薪的工作”，如下所示：

It is impossible for刚刚毕业的大学生to找到高薪的工作。

那么“刚刚毕业的大学生”怎么写？英语里面好像找不到一个表示“刚刚毕业的”形容词放在大学生前面，所以就要用定语从句，写成college students who have just graduated，如果graduated不会写，先写成left；然后怎么写“高薪的”，英语里面也没有这样一个形容词放在jobs的前面，所以用定语从句，写成to find jobs which can give them a lot of money。这样这个句子将写成：It is impossible for college students who have just graduated to find jobs which can give them a lot of

money. 这样将两个定语从句放在这个句型里面，实在是太容易犯错了。实际上，刚刚毕业的大学生可以写成：newly-graduated students, 而高薪的工作可以写成well-paying jobs, 将这两个短语放进去，成为：It is impossible for newly-graduated students to find well-paying jobs，与上面的定语从句相比会获得更高的分数。不过试问，能写出这两个短语的有几人呢？

我们能不能换一种思路，想得简单点，把上面一句话拆分成为四句： ①每年，都有很多大学生毕业。

②他们都想找到工作。

③这些工作可以给他们很多钱。

④这是不可能的。

我相信这样的句子大部分考生很快就可以写出来：

①Every year, many college students graduate。

②They all want to find jobs。

③These jobs can give them a lot of money。

④This is impossible。

第一句话属于五种简单句中的主谓句，第二句是主谓宾，第三句是主谓间宾直宾，第四句是主系表。

下面我们看看能不能润色一下：第一句话我们将熟悉的many改为heaps and heaps of (一批一批的)，这是换词；然后？：from universities；又想到还有独立的学院，再加上and institutes。第一句话变成：Every year, heaps and heaps of college students graduate from universities and institutes。

这句话这样一改，便成气候了。

第二句和第三句可以用定语从句连接起来，因为第三句的主语是第二句最后jobs的重复，所以②＋③成为：They all want to find jobs，which can give them a lot of money. 再润色，我们发现give可以改为offer，a lot of money可以改为

handsome salaries。利用学过的语法知识我们可以让这个句子更加复杂，给定语从句中加一个插入语：they hope，放在which后面，这样这句话就成为：They all want to find jobs，which they hope can offer them handsome salaries。

第四句话也可以和前两句连在一起，这次不采用主从复合句，而采用并列句，因为意思发生转折，故用but连接，而impossible太绝对了，改为hardly possible，于是成为：They all want to find jobs，which they hope can offer them handsome salaries，but this is hardly possible。

所以最初的那句话，经过拆解、加工(换词和连句)形成了下面的一组句子：Every year, heaps and heaps of college students graduate from universities and institutes. They all want to find jobs，which they hope can offer them handsome salaries，but this is hardly possible。

上文总共32个词，与我们刚才认为很难达到的那个句子It is impossible for newly-graduated students to find well-paying jobs (10个词)相比，气势上毫不逊色，但是哪一种写法更适合广大考生的情况呢？当然是从熟悉的东西着手改造更为可取，像newly-graduated和well-paying这样的天外来客式的词组需要积累，或者自己有意去搜寻。再强调一下：上面这组句子是我们从简单句变过来的。这说明：简单句这只丑小鸭也可以变成白天鹅！这是对四级考生写作应试方面最大的启示！

写好四级作文，切勿好高骛远，一下子就想写出来很复杂的句子可能会搞得遍体鳞伤。所以，要从可以掌控的东西出发，即将复杂的汉语思想分解成为简单句，或者说，学会想简单的句子，然后表达成为简单句，进而对之进行再加工，要么换词，要么连句，如此润色，写作可成矣！

简单句写作思路

英文写作的思维就像一个黑洞，似乎深不可测，但如果我们将写作的过程视为一个看不见的汉译英的过程就会简单明了得多。根据笔者的经验，英文写作一般是先想主语，因为主语是一句话的开头；再想谓语，谓语中应该会先写助动词，所以先想用什么时态、语态、情态；接下来是动词，动词要考虑的是用及物动词还是不及物动词，是系动词还是实义动词。如果是及物动词就要考虑跟宾语，系动词就要考虑跟表语。如下图所示：

下面，我们一起来写几句话。

例一： 国际旅游业创造了很多就业机会。

这句话比较简单。首先想想写这句话主语应该是什么？应该是“国际旅游业”，谓语应该是“创造”，还要带一个宾语“就业机会”。这句话的主干应该是：旅游业创造就业机会。对应的简单句句型应该是主谓宾S+V+O。先写主语：International tourism；下面考虑时态，这应该是一个经常反复发生的动作，故用一般现在时，create这个动词应该加s；create是及物动词，所以后面加上many job opportunities, 写成：International tourism creates many job opportunities。 例二：外出工作让母亲们没法照顾好孩子。

这是一个稍微难的句子，先想主语，是“外出工作”，在主语的位置要用动名词，写成Working outside；“让”不能写成let，要用make, 时态用一般现在时，故make要加s；make是及物动词，后跟宾语mothers, “没法照顾好孩子”就成为宾语补足语，构成S+V+O+C的句型，宾语补足语用形容词，写成unable to take good care of their children, 全句成为：Working outside makes women unable to take good care of their children。

当然还可以写成：

Working outside makes it impossible for women to take good care of their children。

这句话将原句进行了适当变通，使之成为“外出工作让母亲们照顾好孩子成为不可能”，然后活用了it作为形式宾语，将不定式后置。相比之下第一种写法稍显生硬。

第三种写法：Working outside deprives women of the chance to take good care of their children。

这句话将原句进行了适当变通，使之成为“外出工作剥夺了母亲们照顾好孩子的机会”，活用了deprive sb. of 这个句型。所以英语写作有很多可能，可选择自己最有把握的句子写出来。

例三：五月到九月份，公司的营业额极不稳定。

这句话在图表写作时可能遇到。五月到九月份可以理解为在五月到九月份，作时间状语，写成between May and September；主语选择“公司的营业额”，将这句话理解为“是极不稳定的”；谓语动词选择系动词be的过去式，为was；“不稳定的”用形容词erratic, 这句话可以写成主系表结构S+V+C：Between May and September, the turnover of the company was fairly erratic。注意系动词所表示的“是”，经常在汉语思维中隐藏。

结束语：简单句需要同学们好好训练，因为简单句是走向更复杂句子结构的基础，也是^v^级考生在临场考试时最能够有把握写好而不犯错的句型。

大学英语四级写作之段落写法标准

首先，一个段落必须有一个中心即主题思想，该中心由主题句特别是其中的题旨来表达。整个段落必须紧扣这个主题（stick or hold to the topic），这就是段落的统一性（unity）。其次，一个段落必须有若干推展句，使主题思想得到充分展开，从而给读者一个完整的感觉，这就是完整性（completeness or adequateness）。再者，一个段落不是杂乱无章的，而是有机的组合，句子的排列顺序必须合乎逻辑，从一个句子到另一个句子的过渡必须流畅（smooth），这就是连贯性（coherence）。下面我们就对这三个标准分别加以说明。

1、统一性

一个段落内的各个句子必须从属于一个中心，任何游离于中心思想之外的句子都是不可取的。请看下例：

Joe and I decided to take the long trip we’d always wanted across the country. We were like young kids buying our camper and stocking it with all the necessities of life. Bella bakes the best rhubarb pie. We started out in early spring from Minneapolis and headed west across the northern part of the country. We both enjoyed those

people we met at the trailer park. Joe received a watch at his retirement dinner. To our surprise, we found that we liked the warm southern regions very much, and so we decided to stay here in New Mexico.

本段的主题句是段首句，controlling idea（中心思想）是take the long trip across the country。文中出现两个irrelevant sentences，一个是Bella bakes the best rhubarb pie，这一段是讲的是Joe and I ，中间出现一个Bella是不合适的。还有，Joe received a watch at his retirement dinner这一句更是与主题句不相关。再看一个例子：

My name is Roseanna, and I like to keep physically fit. I used to weigh two hundred pounds, but I joined the YMCA for an exercise class and diet program. In one year I lost eighty pounds. I feel much better and never want to have that much weight on my five-feet frame again. I bought two new suitcases last week. Everyday I practice jogging three miles, swimming fifteen laps, lifting twenty-pound weights and playing tennis for one hour. My mother was a premature baby.

本段的controlling idea 是like to deep physically fit，但段中有两个irrelevant sentences，一个是I bought two new suitcases last week，另一个是My mother was a premature baby。

从上面两个例子可以看出，native speakers同样会造出来irrelevant sentences。卷面上如果这种句子多了，造成偏题或离题，那问题就更严重了。

2、完整性

正像我们前面说得那样，一个段落的主题思想靠推展句来实现，如果只有主题句而没有推展句来进一步交待和充实，就不能构成一个完整的段落。同样，虽然有推展句，但主题思想没有得到相对圆满的交待，给读者一种意犹未尽的感觉。这样的段落也不能完成其交际功能。例如：

Physical work can be a useful form of therapy for a mind in turmoil. Work

concentrates your thoughts on a concrete task. Besides, it is more useful to work ---- you produce something rather than more anxiety or depression.

本段的主题句是段首句。本段的两个推展句均不能回答主题句中提出的问题。什么是“a mind in turmoil”（心境不平静）Physical work又如何能改变这种情况？为什么它能起therapy的作用？读者得不到明确的答案。由于四级统考的作文部分只要求写一篇100～120个词的三段式短文，每一段只有大约40个词左右，因此，要达到完整就必须尽可能地简明。例如：

It is not always true that a good picture is worth a thousand words. Often writing is much clearer than a picture. It is sometimes difficult to figure out what a picture means, but a careful writer can almost always explain it.

段首句所表达的主题思想是一种看法，必须有具体事例加以验证。上述两个推展句只是在文字上对主题作些解释，整个段落内容空洞，简而不明。如果用一两个具体的例子的话，就可以把主题解释清楚了。比如下段：

It is not always true that a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes, pictures are pretty useless things. If you can’t swim and fall in the river and start

gulping water, will you be better off to hold up a picture of yourself drowning, or start screaming

3、连贯性（coherence）连贯性包括意连和形连两个方面，前者指的是内在的逻辑性，后者指的是使用转换词语。当然这两者常常是不可分割的。只有形连而没有意连，句子之间就没有内在的有机的联系；反之，只有意连而没有形连，有时行文就不够流畅。

1）意连

段落中句子的排列应遵循一定的次序，不能想到什么就写什么。如果在下笔之前没有构思，边写边想，写写停停，那就写不出一气呵成的好文章来。下面介绍几种常见的排列方式。

A.按时间先后排列（chronological arrangement）

We had a number of close calls that day. When we rose, it was obviously late

strict about the radiator boiled over and we had to use most of our drinking water to cool it down. Here, judgments ran out of us and we started the tough climb to the summit, not realizing that darkness came suddenly in the desert. Sure enough, by six we were

struggling and Andrew very nearly went down a steep cliff, dragging Mohammed and summit, we knew as we shivered together for warmth that it had not been our lucky day.

本段从“rose”（起床）写起，然后是吃早餐（“not to miss breakfast”, “closing at nine o’clock”），然后是“close to noon”，一直写到这一天结束（“By nine--”）。

B. 按位置远近排列（spatial arrangement）。例如：

From a distance, it looked like a skinny tube, but as we got closer, we could see it flesh out before our eyes. It was tubular, all right, but fatter than we could see from far away. Furthermore, we were also astonished to notice that the building was really in two parts: a pagoda sitting on top of a tubular one-story structure. Standing ten feet away, we could marvel at how much of the pagoda was made up of glass windows. Almost everything under the wonderful Chinese roof was made of glass, unlike the tube that it was sitting on, which only had four. Inside, the tube was gloomy, because of the lack of light. Then a steep, narrow staircase took us up inside the pagoda and the light changed dramatically. All those windows let in a flood of sunshine and we could see out for miles across the flat land.

本段的写法是由远及近，从远处（“from a distance”）写起，然后“get closer”，再到（“ten feet away”），最后是“inside the pagoda”……当然，按位置远近来写不等于都是由远及近。根据需要，也可以由近及远，由表及里等等。

C. 按逻辑关系排列（logical arrangement）

a. 按重要性顺序排列（arrangement in order of importance）

If you work as a soda jerker, you will, of course, not need much skill in

expressing yourself to be effective. If you work on a machine, your ability to express yourself will be of little importance. But as soon as you move one step up from the bottom, your effectiveness depends on your ability to reach others through the spoken or the written word. And the further away your job is from manual work, the larger the organization of which you are an employee, the more important it will be that you know how to convey your thoughts in writing or speaking. In the very large business organization, whether it is the government, the large corporation, or the Army, this ability to express oneself is perhaps the most important of all the skills a man can possess.

If a reader is lost, it is generally because the writer has not been careful enough to keep him on the path. This carelessness can take any number of forms. Perhaps a sentence is so excessively cluttered that the reader, hacking his way through the verbiage, simply doesn’t know what it means. Perhaps a sentence has been so

shoddily constructed that the reader could read it in any of several ways. Perhaps the writer has switched tenses, or has switched pronouns in mid-sentence, so the reader loses track of when the action took place or who is talking. Perhaps sentence B is not logical sequel to sentence A ---- the writer, in whose head the connection is clear, has not bothered to provide the missing link. Perhaps the writer has used an important word incorrectly by not taking the trouble to look it up. He may think that

c. 由特殊到一般排列（specific-to-general arrangement）

I do not understand why people confuse my Siamese cat, Prissy, with the one I had several years ago, Henry. The two cats are only alike in breed. Prissy, a quiet, feminine feline, loves me dearly but not possessively. She likes to keep her distance from people, exert her independence and is never so rude as to beg, lick, or sniff unceremoniously. Her usual posture is sitting upright, eyes closed, perfectly still.

Prissy is a very proper cat. Henry, on the other hand, loved me dearly but possessively. He was my shadow from morning till night. He expected me to constantly entertain him. Henry never cared who saw him do anything, whether it was decorous or not, and he usually offended my friends in some way. The cat made himself quite comfortable, on the top of the television, across stranger’s feet or laps, in beds, drawers, sacks, closets, or nooks. The difference between them is imperceptible to strangers.

本段的主题句是段首句，它仅提出一个问题：为什么两只猫会被搞混。然后对两者进行比较，末句才下结论。

2）形连

行文的逻辑性常常要靠适当的转换词语及其他手段来实现。请读下面这一段文字并找出文中用以承上启下的词语：

Walter’s goal in life was to become a successful surgeon. First, though, he had to get through high school, so he concentrated all his efforts on his studies --- in particular, biology, chemistry, and math. Because he worked constantly on these subjects, Walter became proficient in them; however, Walter forgot that he needed to master other subjects besides those he had chosen. As a result, during his junior year of high school, Walter failed both English and Latin. Consequently, he had to repeat these subjects and he was almost unable to graduate on schedule. Finally, on June 6, Walter achieved the first step toward realizing his goal.

本文中起承上启下的词语有两种，一种是转换词语（transitional words or phrases），另一种是起转换作用的其他连接手段（linking devices）。前者依次有：first, though, so, in particular, and, because, however, besides, as a result, both…and, consequently, and, finally.后者依次是：he, he, his, his, he, these, them, he, those, his, he, these, his. 本段^v^有词汇105个，所使用的转换词语及其他连接用语共26个词，约占该段总词汇量的四分之一。由此可见，掌握好transitions不仅对行文的流（smoothness）有益，而且对于学生在半个小时内写足四级短文所要求的120个词也是不无好处的。

一个段落里如果没有transitions也就很难有coherence了。我们看下面一个例子：Speaking and writing are different in many ways. Speech depends on sounds. Writing uses written symbols. Speech developed about 500 000 years ago. Written language is a recent development. It was invented only about six thousand years ago. Speech is usually informal. The word choice of writing is often relatively formal. Pronunciation and accent often tell where the speaker is from. Pronunciation and accent are ignored in writing. A standard diction and spelling system prevails in the written language of most countries. Speech relies on gesture, loudness, and rise and fall of the voice. Writing lacks gesture, loudness and the rise and fall of the voice. Careful speakers and writers are aware of the differences.

本段中除了第6句开头出现一个起过渡作用的＂it＂之外，没有使用其他的过渡词语。这样，文中出现许多重复的词语，全段读起来也显得生硬而不自然。如果加上必要的过渡词语来修饰的话，这一段就成了下面一个流畅连贯的段落： Speaking and writing are different in many ways. Speech depends on sounds; about six spelling system prevails in most countries. Speech relies on gesture, loudness, and the are aware of the differences.

4、有损连贯性的几种情况：

考生在写作中经常出现下面几种错误：

1）不必要的改变时态，比如：

In the movie, Robert Redford was a spy. He goes to his office where he found 2）不必要的改变单复数，比如：

Everybody looks for satisfaction in his life. They want to be happy. But if he and in relationships.

3）不必要的改变人称，比如：

Now more than ever, parents need to be in touch with their children’s activities arrange family like it so that family members will do things together and know one have a set of obligations to sponsor togetherness and therefore sponsor knowledge.

因此写作中，一定要注意时态，人称以及数的变化是否正确，要注意保持一致。

英语四级写作难点分析及应对策略

难点一：主观判分，有所影响

不可否认，四级考试是目前国内各种英语测试中规模很大、公信度较高、科学性和客观性较强的一种，能够较客观地考察出一个人的实际英语能力。但写作仍然是四级考试中主观性较大的部分，存在主观判卷的弊端。虽然考官依据四级作文评分标准进行阅卷，但由于前文所述的考官在判卷中的弱点、盲点，人为因素不可避免。

难点二：体裁多样，难度较大

它既有书信作文，演讲稿，图表作文，也有议论文写作。字数要求也是国内英语测试中较多的，30分钟要求考生写一篇120字的短文。书信作文、议论文等尚能有章可循，然而图表作文却无从下手。这是因为国内各个层次的英语教学甚少涉及图表作文，并且要写好图表作文，不仅需要良好的英语语言能力，同时还应具备相应的分析、归纳能力。

难点三：老题新出，千变万化

四级作文有完善的出题套路，往往通过换关键词的方式可以旧瓶装新酒，老树开新花。请看下面几道考题：

只要细看片刻就能发现这三道题如出一辙，提纲的结构实质上是完全相同的，不难想像，在写这些题目时定有套路可循。

不少四级考生“谈作文即色变”就是因为就题论题，不识庐山真面目。四级作文题目虽然充满变数，但万变不离其宗，考官不可能随心所欲得出新题或更新题库。与其上下求索，苦苦积攒上百道变化莫测的题目，不如勤于总结，牢牢记住以上几条题目变化的法则。

许多学生习惯于用汉语思维方式来进行英文写作，不善于开门见山，缺乏中心句(thesis statement)和主题句(topic sentence)的意识，谈了许多还未谈到主题，还未等到他们一步一步地从次要观点的阐述过渡到主要论点，时间已过去大半，不得不匆忙得出结论而收尾，作文也因此失分惨重。

应试对策：

学会写主题段和主题句，遵循外国人的“线性思维模式”。从全篇来看，一般的议论文大多都分为三大部分，即提出问题、分析问题、解决问题，四级作文也不例外，三部分缺一不可。文章的第一段落应是主题段，简单介绍了文章的大体思路。之后的段落要按逻辑顺序展开，这是因为结构的完整还包括结构的合理性，就像说明文有说明顺序一样，议论文的结构分布同样应该掌握一个递进深入的顺序。从每段来看，第一句应是主题句，表达了本段的中心思想，其后的每一个观点都应围绕这个中心展开。所有扩展句都紧扣主题。一般应在段首就亮出主题句，避免主题句放在段中或段末从而无法明显辨别引起混乱。
