自高校入学考试增加口试后,笔者几乎每年都担任北京地区主考人,感到有必要从考官的角度与考生谈谈口试时应注意的问题,英语教授张卫族谈如何对付高考英语口试。

首先,考生要充分意识,口试与笔试最大的不同在于前者面对的是有思想感情的人。而人与人之间素质相异。正因如此,有时理应用理智处理问题时往往受到感情的干扰,这正如比赛评判的“印象分”。为此,考生务必理解主考人的心理状态,避免给主考人不利自己的印象。以下情况如果出现,主考人往往一开始就会对你产生“坏感”,本应得到的成绩就会打折扣:

l)从备考室到应考室门前后,还需要等候工作人员的通知。上一个考生走出后,两位考官要就给分进行短暂讨论,意见一致后填入表内。评分阶段未完前,如果下一个考生进来了,主考人不会就此不满,因为这不是考生的问题,这时主考人往往用英语说Please wait outside for a moment./Wait outside please. Please don't come in until we ask you to.等等。尽管这些话没有考生不会的单词,但由于考生*时接触的会说英语的较多的是自己的英语老师和同班同学,乍一听别人说英语很不*惯。主考人有时要重复两三遍,甚至加用手势,考生退出。这将留下第一个“不良印象”。主考人们会想“怎么这么简单的英语也没听懂?”

2)进入口试室前如能先敲门,并说 May I come in?或 May I?,主考人自然会认为你很有礼貌,中学英语《英语教授张卫族谈如何对付高考英语口试》。人还没见,先有个好印象。

3)在外表上,考生一般都注意衣着得体。但男生篷乱的头发最容易给主考人不好印象。

4)十有八九考生主动打招呼,说Good morning.或Good afternoon.这很好。但在使用称呼语上要慎重。如最常用的teacher,它在英语*惯里不是个称呼语,有的主考人认为*式英语,也有的主考人认为国内有的教材这么用了,因而可以接受。在这种有争议的情况下,考生应避免给自己找麻烦,就简单说Good morning/afternoon.为妥。

5)考生应把准考证交给主考人,以便将有关信息和成绩写在记录单上。考生如果主动,主考人也就不会说Let me have your examination permit/ID.或Give me your examination permit/ID.(ID= identification card,证明自己“身份”的证件,此处也可表示自己获准参加考试的证明;permit=许可证)。当然,主考人知道考生会听不懂,往往边说边比划,可有时考生还不懂,这又会给自己带来不利的印象分。

6)在备考室里考生拿到的试卷上要求朗读的段落都用*记号标出,表示只需朗读这一段。这种做法“十几年一贯”,没有改变过,但不少考生一听见要朗读就从文章开头念。这说明没有看懂口试要求。类似这种可以防范的错误应该避免。

口语是语言技能中最容易和最基础的部分,比起枯燥的语法和高深的写作技巧,口语最容易掌握。但是,*传统英语教育只注重笔试,忽视听力和口语,而*同学比较内向含蓄,口语就成了一个很大的困难。很多同学学了英语却不能和人顺畅交流,这岂不是一件憾事?

1、心态篇

这是学*口语的第一个阶段,就是心态要好,要有自信。

首先,*人在所有亚洲人中是比较有优势的。看看邻国日本和韩国就知道了,本国语言造成了他们有些元音、辅音发不清楚,而*人就没有这方面的障碍。

背诵的方法,我简单总结为“四走”:首先还是要反复听磁带,跟着磁带走,否则就失去学*纯正英语的意义。先跟磁带读,每个意群一顿,或者每句一顿。然后慢慢一段一顿,让自身把长句完整说出来。这样听个五六遍,文章基本就背下来了。很多外国语学校的同学都是这样练*的(包括我自身)。从初中开始这就是他们雷打不动的家庭作业,有的学校还极端地要求家长签字,每个同学每日到教师面前背课文,最后计入考试成绩。虽然当时怨声载道,但事实证明这样确实有效。

词汇篇

四级词汇是4200个,六级词汇在此基础上增加1300个,六级后再加1000个。这样整个大学英语的词汇量是6500个。最新调整的考研英语大纲,词汇量从以前的5300个调整至5500个,并且大纲中去掉了汉语释义,要求考生全面把握单词的各种含义。

单词的记忆是一个反复记忆再记忆的过程。无论采用何种记忆方法,都必须要经过记忆—遗忘—记忆—再遗忘—不断再记忆的过程。根据心理学家分析,一个单词只有在大脑中反复出现7—10次才能记住。开始的时候,一天记忆30-50个单词比较符合记忆*惯。充分利用各种可利用的时间反复记忆,才能真正记住。

背单词时可以尝试使用以下方法:

1.词根词缀记忆法

可以参考词根词缀的书,积累一些常用的词根,通过词根扩展词汇量。

2.联想记忆法

充分展开自己的想象力,通过*义归类联想,汉语谐音联想等方法。词汇的记忆过程是大脑进行思维的过程,只有使用有效的方法才能提高效率。

3.语境记忆法

3.熟悉场景

中文里的字都是单音节的,即一个辅音加一个元音。除12个鼻辅音外,其他辅音都不在词尾。而英文里多音节词辅音连缀极其普遍。因此*人的发音器官和嘴里的运动肌肉不能*惯英语的发音。不通过朗读就无法训练嘴部肌肉的运动,很可能心里知道某个词,甚至能拼写,但舌头就是不听使唤说不出来。而法国人或者德国人学英语就不会有类似的困难,因为他们母语的发音所涉及的肌肉运动和英语的发音没有什么本质的区别。可见朗读可以训练发音器官,使肌肉能适应英语发音的需要。

一、传统应试教育的弊端。考试一直是传统应试教育检查学生学*情况的主要手段,而评估教师的教学能力的标准在很大程度上是学生学*成绩。“优秀教师”往往是指最有办法、最能精确抓到考题的老师,而学生要的也就是会抓重点并切中考题的老师。为了使学生的成绩得到提高,为了升学率,老师们在教学中更注重的往往也是典型题型的解题方法或操练等应付考试的办法。而口语未列入高考考试内容,因此被忽略成了其必然性。这样一来,分数再高的学生也有可能在英语口语方面是哑巴了。

二、传统教育模式及教学方法的弊端。传统的教育理念认为知识的传授过程即是一个灌输过程。许多老师因此在课堂上充分发挥着主导的作用,为了确保学生能更掌握所传授的知识,常常不可避免地运用满堂灌的教学方法,自始至终都以老师为主体,学生则处于被动学*的地位,口语练*的机会更是少之又少。如此一堂课上完,教师愈是疲惫不堪,学生愈是收获甚微了。

三、学生缺乏自信心。许多学生由于自信心不足,往往不敢开口说英语,总是害怕由于说错或语音不准而招来同学的嘲笑。当他们被提问或被要求对话时,常常会面红耳赤,说不出话来。这些现象都不仅体现出他们害羞的心理,还体现出他们对自己的能力缺乏自信。

我国*年来提倡的素质教育和新课程改革就是英语教学上的转折。应试教育的种种弊端已越来越多地显示出其被淘汰的趋势。而新课程注重的是根据教育的规律和学生的身心发展规律来展开教学的。它要求以学生为主体,注重思想素质、心理素质、能力素质等方面的培养;要求学生对所学*的语言项目不仅能掌握、识记,更重要的是把它们运用到实际中来。英语是一门语言,学*这一语言重要的不是语法或时态的生搬硬套,而是要能够学以致用。如果学生不能够把它运用出来,那么所学的语言也就会失去其存在的价值,学生也将会更加确信英语学*的“无用论”,以致把它扔到一边去了。

为打破学生学*英语的被动局面,提高英语口语水*,从根本上向“哑巴英语”告别,我的做法是:

一、营造语言环境。我们知道一个小孩之所以能学会说话,主要是因为他置身于一个语言环境中,每天他都能听到来自周围许多人所说的话。而他本人也不断地进行模仿,渐渐地由能发出单音到多个音节以致能表达自己的需求,这就说明了语言环境的重要性。为了给学生创造语言环境,我在上课时采用英语来组织教学,用英语来解释英语。尽可能避免用汉语上英语的现象,不再把所有的文章或对话都翻译成汉语,只有在必要的时候才适当运用母语。这样一来,学生便可以有更多的机会听说英语,从而为英语口语的提高创造了条件。

二、激发兴趣,使学生积极参与课堂教学。我发现,学生的口语与课堂教学是密切相关的。一些*时在课堂上积极配合老师并能做出相应反应的学生,其口语表达能力会强一些;而另一些较为腼腆的学生或成绩较差的学生往往会在课堂上保持沉默,表现出很不自信,其口语自然就差一些。因此,我在教学中便常常投入情感教学,真诚地与学生交谈,了解学生学*、生活情况,缩小师生间的心理距离,以激发他们学*英语的兴趣。并鼓励他们克服困难,大胆开口,不要害怕出错。不但在课堂上要大胆说,而且在课后也要随时运用日常用语。我在教学中还适当运用了“Thank you / Please / Well done / Never mind.”等有助于激励学生的词,使学生很受鼓舞。每个班已有百分之八十以上的学生都在课堂上跃跃欲试。

三、改变教学方法,发挥老师的指导作用。课堂上,我提倡的是把时间还给学生,让学生多说、多练。老师扮演的角色是总指挥,而不是激情演讲的演说者。对于阅读文章或对话的教学,我采用了引导复述、对话、讨论、即时背诵等方法。不仅活跃了课堂,还达到了锻炼学生人人动脑想、个个开口说的目的。

四、及时表扬,强化成功体验。在口语教学过程中,我认为要把口语水*提高起来,树立起学生的信心,就要使他们感受到成功的喜悦。由于学生层次不同,我对不同的学生提出了不同的要求,而且尽量找到让学生表现的机会,并及时对其成绩加以肯定,使其在享受“成功”的快乐的同时,把胜利的喜悦化为积极进取的动力。

应该指出的是,英语口语教学的未来将会是任重而道远的。而困难与挫折是教学过程中常常会面临的问题,但其中往往会蕴含着成功与希望。关键是:老师要循循善诱,学生要持之以恒。

在英语课堂上,大部分学生都能很活跃的回答老师提出的问题,积极跟着老师拼读单词,朗读课文。其实这也制造了一种假象,学生认为自己常常被老师提问,认为自己能够回答老师的问题,于是认为自己的英语学得很不错,自我感觉特别好。于是下课后在英语上花的时间就少了。其实要学好英语,课上占40%,其余的60%还需要学生在课后不断的巩固,加深记忆。在课上老师更多的是教授新知识,当然课上也会有少量的时间巩固新学的知识。但是这些时间是公共的时间,而不是每个学生私有的时间,所以不可能照顾到每个学生,不可能让所有学生都达到相同的程度。况且每个学生对新知识得接受能力都是不同的,有的可能当堂就已经有很深的印象,很难忘记,但这肯定是很少的。大部分学生都只能是初步接触了新知识,要真正接受新知识还要学生在课后多下功夫,不然肯定会和别的同学拉下差距。

那么在课后学生到底该怎么做才能把其余的60%补回来呢?英语毕竟不是我们自己的语言,大多数学生除了英语课其余时间根本就不会想到要说英语,所以,在课后一定要主动抽时间为自己补习英语。学好英语,不外乎就是在听,说,读,写这些方面下功夫。

首先说一下听,每个学生都有和书相配套的磁带,可是请各位家长检查一下自己的子女的英语磁带,有多少学生的磁带还是和刚发的时候一样的,根本就没有听过。不要说另外买什么英语听力磁带或者英语学习的碟片了,连自己手头的磁带都不去听,光靠上课听一点点的磁带,学生的听力根本就不能有什么发展。不会听就不能说,而说白了,学了英语就是要说,那不是白学了么?我每天叫学生回家要跟录音机读二十分钟的英语,可是有多少学生真地做到了呢?听录音机跟读,不是鹦鹉学舌,听见什么就跟着说什么。所读的知识已经学过了,跟录音机读应该是提高自己的听力和口语表达能力,要学生尽力地去模仿录音机里的发音,从而使自己的听力和口语都提高一个层次。

接下来是说,英语是一门语言,学了就是要说,要和别人交流。我们学的英语不应该是哑巴英语,要让每个学生学会勇敢地说出来。在课上我会用各种方法来刺激学生,激发他们说英语的积极性,大多数学生也确实做得很好。可是班级里人多,对每个人来说,说的机会就少。所以下课也要说;放学回家也要说。在学校,我鼓励学生把所学的英语对话运用到生活中去,这样有更真实的情景,更能让学生有发挥的余地。在家里,希望家长也能鼓励学生说英语,也许你会说你自己也听不懂,请不要这样想,其实学生需要是你的鼓励,你听了他们说的只要简单表扬一句,他们就会很满足了。有时候你们也可以不懂装懂,或者还可以让学生反过来教你,他们会觉得很自豪,因为自己所学得派上了用场。

接下来是读。有句话:“读书破万卷,下笔如有神。”学英语也是这样,很多家长也明白,学英语要培养语感,也就是语言的感觉,如果有很好的语感,那么不管是说话,做题目,还是写文章,都很轻松,很简单了。那么语感怎么来呢?就是靠读出来的。一定要让学生养成每天读英语的习惯,这是学英语的最基本的学习习惯了。我刚开始学英语的时候就是这样的,每天早上一定要读20分钟左右的英语,哪怕有时候时间来不及了,即使是迟到也要读,并且每天都坚持,绝不因任何原因间断。无论什么事情都贵在坚持嘛。如果你的子女还没有养成这样的学习习惯,请你一定要督促他,刚开始也许会比较难,时间久了,就会习惯成自然。就像早上起来要刷牙洗脸一样,要让他们把读英语当作每天必做的一件事。

最后是写。二年级英语已经对学生有一定的书写要求。首先是单词,单词是句子,段落,课文的最基本组成单位。背单词是学英语的必经之路。单词往往背过就容易会忘记,所以要不断的背,不断的翻新,这是没有办法的。我要求学生在背单词的时候要边拼边写,嘴巴和手都要动起来,嘴上十遍不如手上一遍。还有句型,二年级所接触的巨型都是很简单的日常用语。学生应该在课上领会句型的意思和运用方法。可后还需要通过多读课文,多练习才能巩固所学的句型。所以请各位家长不光要注重孩子背单词的情况,还要让他重视句子的重要性。
