一、什么是新闻？ 新闻是指“新近发生的事实的报道”。

这里包含了三层意思。 “新近发生”，是说新闻发生的时间，一般来讲，新闻越新越好。

“事实”是整个新闻写作的逻辑起点。新闻工作的最大特点是用事实说话。

事实是客观的，不能杜撰。这里的“事实”，是指有新闻价值的事实。

“报道”，指选用恰当的新闻体裁通过大众传播媒体进行传播。 以上三个方面是构成新闻定义的基本内容，缺一则不能构成新闻。

“新闻”这个词，虽然对一般读者已经十分熟悉，但是如果要下一个确切的定义，就不那么容易了。迄今为止，新闻界有无数泰斗都对“新闻”下过自己的定义。

遗憾的是，至今世界上还没有一个简单而又公认的定义。现不妨从众多观点中举出一些颇有代表性的定义： 1）新闻就是针对人们读你的报道以前还不知道的事件、事实或观点的一种全新报道。

2）凡是及时的、能引起一部分人兴趣的东西，便是新闻。而最好的新闻则是那种能够激起最大多数人最大兴趣的东西。

3）新闻是指人们能及时获悉的事件、观点或见解，它能吸引或影响社会上的许多人，并能为他们所理解。 4）新闻是对任何事物的及时报道，对于读者群体中的许多人来说，这类报道具有重要性、实用性或趣味性。

5）狗咬人并非新闻，人咬狗才是（大）新闻。 二、新闻的特点 我们知道了新闻的定义，还要了解一下新闻应该具备哪些基本要素及其写作特点。

简单概括起来，新闻的要素就是五个W和一个H。即“什么时候”（when）、“哪里”（where）、“谁”（who）、“是什么”（what）、“为什么”（why）和“怎么样”（how） 给大家介绍了新闻的基本要素，等于帮大家解剖了一只麻雀，看到了新闻内部的构造。

有了这个基础，我们再往下学习就容易多了。光说了内部，让我们看看新闻的外部还有些什么特点吧。

外部看新闻，新闻具有这样五个特点：真、短、新、快、活。下面就详细说说这五个特点。

1）、新闻应该——真 真实是新闻的生命。任何虚假的、幻想的内容都不应该写到新闻里来。

事实是指客观已经发生了的“事情的真实情况”。“事实”是新闻写作的前提。

也就是说，没有事实，就无从谈新闻。事实是客观的，是不以记者的主观意志和愿望为转移的。

也就是说，不是你喜欢它就发生，你不喜欢它就不发生。这就告诉我们，事实无论如何都不能凭空编造。

这就引出了一句非常重要的话，希望大家记住——真实是新闻的生命。由此我们可以推论，衡量一篇新闻稿件写得好不好，不完全看它的用词美不美，也不完全看它的结构精巧不精巧，而是它是不是讲了一个重要的新闻事实。

有的时候，只要把事实介绍出来，不需要你再多说一句话，事实本身就成为最好的证明。比如说有这样一条消息：“客运公司坚持进行学习雷锋活动，这个季度他们共做好事58件。”

在这里，客运公司的同事一共做了58件好事，通过这个事实，让我们感到这个公司的同事在学雷锋的过程中既态度鲜明又做法扎实，同时取得的效果也是显著的。 那么，新闻一点也不能虚构吗？ 采写员写文章一定要做到“三脚着地”，贴近生活采访写作。

有的小记者问，我虚构一点点都不行吗？不行，半点都不能虚构。你想，读者可是把报纸当作完全真实的东西在看，你文章中有一点点虚假，就是对读者的欺骗。

谁愿意当这种骗子呢？记住，我们采写员是“陆军”，永远不能做空军。 2）、新闻应该——短 新闻是最近发生或正在发生的事实的报道。

人们都渴望知道新近发生的事情，因此，“用简短的语言报告事实”，成为读者、观众的期盼。 如果发生了一件新闻，比如说山上突然起火了，让你去报道，写一篇消息，你从起火的危害写到起火的原因，从地理位置写到火势，从消防队员行走路线写到路上交通阻塞，有从组织领导写到群众积极踊跃参加救火，最户才写到火终于被扑灭，洋洋洒洒也许会写1000多字，可是我们要问——这些内容是读者渴望最先了解的内容吗？ 读者此时最关心的有三点：一是起火的原因，二是大火是否被扑灭，三是造成了多大的损失。

这样一件新闻，应该最多用200字，或是更少的字就能表现出来。 那么，长东西就不是好东西？这也不能一概而论，不过新闻报道还是短些好。

3）、新闻应该——新 新闻新闻，首先要新。这一点其实在第一课里我们已经讲到了。

这里再提醒大家注意：新闻，一是指内容要新，不重复旧的内容，二是形式上也要求新，注意表现上不落俗套。打个比喻，新闻应该是个新娘，不仅人新，而且打扮也要新。

新闻一定要新，同时还要有价值，这是我们对采写员采写新闻的一个重要要求。 4）、新闻应该——快 新闻报道一定要快，要及时。

在成人报社里，经常听人讲：‘这篇稿子是隔日黄花，不能再用了。用“隔日黄花”来形容新闻已经陈旧不能再刊用了。

所以，作为采写员，一定要记住：新闻是讲究时效性的，再好的新闻耽搁了时间采写、耽搁了时间发稿，都有可能很快成为旧闻，不再被采用。 搞新闻的人都要脚踩“风火轮”，风风火火去采访，风风火火写稿子，然后风风火火去发稿。
